A genuine forest, not just a drive out of the city
HITEC City has been Hyderabad's flagship IT district since 1998, anchored by the iconic Cyber Towers and home to Microsoft, Google, Oracle and dozens of other technology employers. It's a fully built commercial corridor — which is exactly why Anantagiri Hills, a real forest environment in the Vikarabad district roughly 80–90 km southwest, makes a genuine contrast for a weekend or day-off escape.
Anantagiri Hills is one of the older forested areas in Telangana, known for coffee plantations, several trekking trails ranging from an easy 1–2 km temple walk to longer forest routes, and as the source of the Musi River that eventually flows through Hyderabad itself. The Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, an old cave shrine dedicated to Vishnu, sits at the heart of the hills and draws both pilgrims and trekkers.
From Hitech City the drive typically runs via the Outer Ring Road toward Chevella and on to Vikarabad — roughly two hours each way — making it a genuine full-day trip rather than a quick outing. Best season is July through February; carry water and snacks, since there are no restaurants on the hills themselves.
