A north-west corner start for a southbound pilgrimage
Miyapur is a residential and commercial locality in Hyderabad's north-west, at the terminus of the Metro Red Line and close to the Mumbai Highway (NH65) junction. It's a distinct starting position for an Ahobilam trip: Ahobilam sits in Kurnool district to the south, so a Miyapur trip means crossing the full width of the city — typically via the Outer Ring Road — before joining the southbound highway.
Ahobilam itself, in the Nallamala Hills, is known for nine temples dedicated to different forms of Lord Narasimha, split between Lower Ahobilam near the town and Upper Ahobilam, reached by a forest trekking path. The site is roughly 350–360 km from Hyderabad, about 5–6 hours by road, though the Miyapur crossing adds to that. An early departure from the metro terminus area helps offset the extra distance.
Because the Miyapur metro station and the Mumbai Highway junction are well-known landmarks, they work well as a pickup point regardless of which part of the locality you're coming from.
