An eastern industrial hub, but a southbound pilgrimage
Uppal is an industrial and residential locality in eastern Hyderabad, home to the Uppal Industrial Development Area and sitting on the Blue Line metro as well as the Warangal-highway corridor. That highway orientation is useful for northeast-bound trips, but Ahobilam lies south in Kurnool district — so a trip from Uppal actually needs to cross onto a different route via the Inner Ring Road rather than continuing straight out on Uppal's own highway.
Ahobilam itself is known for nine temples to different forms of Lord Narasimha, split between Lower Ahobilam near the town and Upper Ahobilam, reached via a forest trekking path in the Nallamala Hills. The site sits roughly 350–360 km from Hyderabad, about 5–6 hours by road once the initial crossing from Uppal is done.
